Local Area Chess Clubs

Boylston Chess Club (BCC) -- The Boylston Chess Club has existed since the 1850s, when it began as part of the Young Men's Christian Union (YMCU). It was later chartered by the United States Chess Federation in 1919, the year the USCF opened its own doors! The Boylston Chess Club is a legally incorporated non-profit organization, and is open to Members 7 days a week. The BCC is a registered Affiliate of the USCF.

Harvard University Chess Club -- The Harvard Chess Club is one of the oldest college chess clubs in the country and one of the most active. HCC-sponsored teams representing Harvard compete annually in the Pan-American Intercollegiate Championships, the U.S. Amateur Team East, and other team events. In addition, the HCC holds special events such as simultaneous exhibitions and lectures (the most recent being lectures by internationally renowned chess teacher IM Mark Dvoretsky, and 2-time United States Champion GM Patrick Wolff, who is a Harvard alum).

MIT Chess Club -- The MIT Chess Club is currently being coached by US Champion Larry Christiansen and led by former US Women's Co-Champion Elina Groberman. They recently won the Top Collegiate prize and the Top Team from Massachusetts awards at the US Amateur Team Championship, East.

Waltham Chess Club -- The Waltham Chess Club provides an opportunity to improve your game in a pleasant, friendly environment. We host a mix of casual nights along with both fun and serious tournaments. Our goal is to have players enjoy themselves.

State, National, and International Chess Organizations

US Chess Federation (USCF) -- The USCF is the governing body for chess in the United States. Chess news, membership dues, correspondence chess and other chess-related items may be found on their website.

Massachusetts Chess Association (MACA) -- MACA is the state chapter of the USCF for Massachusetts. Details about upcoming tournaments, and events may be found on their website, which is regularly updated. MACA also produces the award winning magazine, Chess Horizons.

Federation Internationale des Echecs -- FIDE is the international overall chess organization which unites national chess federations and directs the chess world. With 156 member federations and more than 5 million registered players worldwide, FIDE is one of the largest organizations recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
